Religious Freedom in China: Policy, Administration and Regulation is the first exhaustive compilation of all the laws and regulations currently operative in the Peoples Republic of China relative to religion. It includes not only those national laws that function throughout the country and offer a general perspective on religion, but the many laws and regulations that or specific for different administrative areas such as Tibet and Xinjiang. To assist the reading in understanding the import of the different laws, the volume includes a brief survey of those Chinese government structures that have oversight of religion and how they operate at different levels. Though written in English, there are numerous reference in Chinese that allow readers to track the sources for each law that is discussed. The volume also includes the complete text in both Chinese and English of the new national law on religion released at the end of 2004.
