Description

This is a story about an aging cow dog who has worked all his life on a ranch. Now it's time for him to retire and to find a new home. This isn't so easy for him because, as he finds out, life off the ranch is very different. As he tries to accept his new role in life, he becomes more and more unhappy. It's not because he is unloved but because he misses his old life. As his calamity is resolved, he finds happiness again. Stink'em. What's In A Name? carries readers to small town Florida where life is different and interesting and rewarding for residents; but not so much for a cow dog whose time to retire has come; just like many of Arcadia, Florida's residents. The ensuing trouble and eventual success is highlighted by love being the source for his eventual happiness. This is a story to be shared and read again and again; sometimes while holding noses as the smell of a hard working cow dog burns their noses Rita Hemrick came to Arcadia at the age of 7 and is a well-known artist in the community. She loves to draw for children and likes to inspire them to work in all art mediums, such as; oils, acrylic, colored pencils, pen and ink, and pastels. Charlotte Hosie Nymark has been a resident of Arcadia, Florida for 10 years. She has observed the great diversity of the town and invented the story of this old cow dog on a drive in the country to a friend's ranch seeing cattle and orange groves.
