About the Author
Richard Schmidt (B.1967) was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, to a middle class family, grew up in Essex and Morris counties, New Jersey. Graduated from The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey as a dental Hygienist in 1996. After 15 years of clinical dental hygiene practice in New York, New Jersey, and Nevada, realizing the need to teach the importance of good dental hygiene to people, especially children, he created the Plaque Pixie Children's Book Series. Which is designed to provide young children and the parents the opportunity to learn the importance of good oral hygiene with the help of the adorable little Plaque Pixie. Additionally, the books allow for children to experience what goes on during a routine dental visit, in a fun light hearted way. His first book,"HARRY'S BIG DAY at the dentist", for children ages 4-8 introduces them to the different people encountered and the typical events which take place during a dental visit. "HARRY AND THE PLAQUE PIXIE", is the second in his Plaque Pixie children's Book Series designed to offer children ages 6-11 lessons in oral hygiene taught by the Plaque Pixie. His third book, The Tale of the Plaque Pixie, is a prequel to the Plaque Pixie Children's Book Series that explains the origins of the Plaque Pixie.
