Description

This is a proposed linguistic translation of the Biblical Book of Judges. A linguistic translation is a word for word translation which shows the original grammar from the source language. So the text frequently reads in an awkward way; thus this text should be used as an assist along with a plain text such as the King James Translation. Some of the Hebrew spellings of words are indicated in parentheses, and Hebrew spellings of all names are introduced at least once in the text. I have included a chapter subject index, and also a summary index of events for each chapter. Those should prove to be valuable study aids. The appendix contains a listing of commentary on some translation issues. There are also two linguistics articles included pertaining to Biblical Hebrew translation and Biblical Hebrew Morphology. The goal of this work is to lay the ground work for a a more accurate translation, which will result in a future dynamic translation. A substantial amount of improvement has been made in the understanding and clarity of many word meanings, but there is yet additional progress which must be made before a perfect translation can be reached. My work over the years in Biblical Hebrew Morphology suggests that in the not too distant future a perfect translation is possible. The precise meanings of some ancient words have been lost; this issue is discussed in the Forward. This work is especially recommended for theology students, students of Biblical Hebrew, and Theologians.
