Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a widespread disorder whose incidence and prevalence have risen markedly in recent decades. Focusing on different treatment concepts - medical, endoscopic and surgical - the chapters cover the basics of symptomatology and epidemiology, pathophysiology, GERD among different age groups, complications and its treatment, hiatal hernia or H. pylori and GERD, GERD and functional heartburn, diagnostic procedures and also pre-surgical examination.
