Description
The patient is observed to assume a passive role, while the nurse assumes an expert and maternalistic role. Patients' capacity for autonomy in decision-making is largely determined by this relationship and other factors. Objectives: This study aims to examine the nurse-patient relationship and its implications for clinical practice, care quality, and patients' capacity for decision-making. Design: A qualitative phenomenological study was carried out. Participants and settings: From 2015 to 2016, 61,484 nursing records from a general hospital's internal medicine and specialties departments were gathered through thirteen in-depth interviews with nurses. Methods: For these sources, a discourse analysis and triangulation were carried out.
