Trek to Yomi ("Trek" and "to" are pronounced as you would in english) is a fantastic narrative-driven game developed by Flying Wild Hog, the guys behind the Shadow Warrior series, as well as Evil West.
The game takes place in the Edo period and you play as Hiroki, ever since he was a little kid all the way to when he grows up to be a leader. You'll venture into towns, forests, and into Yomi, the land of the dead. How do you end up down there? Only time will tell.
What's so fantastic about this game is the narrative. It's straight to the point, with no filler whatsoever, and every chapter will have you on the edge of your seat. The game is completely in black and white, as you may have seen many japanese movies by now. It gives the game this mystic aura about it that I simply love.
If that wasn't enough, the voice acting in this game is phenomenal. Hiroki Masayuki Katou] has been a part of Naruto: Shippuden, Sword Art Online, while Aiko Sarah Emi Bridcutt], Hiroki's wife, has been in The Rising of the Shield Hero as none other than Myne, the crazy princess. Shield Hero is a favorite anime of mine and Myne's VA was amazing, despite me hating her haha. The rest of the cast are as good and talented as them, so you will NOT be disappointed.
But what awaits Hiroki in Yomi? How did he even get there in the first place? Why are there so many collectibles in the game?
